Cultural Typhoon Kobe 2024 will kick-off with this great symposium.
1st symposium
10 – 1130am, Sunday 22nd September
A Lukewarm challenge at the Nishinada-Suidousuji area―In-between uptown and downtown
Panelists: Kanako Iwata, Chulwoong Park, Yurie Sakamoto, Kenichi Utsumi
Chair: Hirotaka Inoue
Only two stops from San’nomiya, the city centre of Kobe, invite you to see a bunch of people who, in a lukewarm way, challenge to regain possibilities of active and lively locality. Kanako Iwata of Sowelu wants to make her café the hub space of the area. Chulwoong Park manages a guest house MAYA which is more than just accomodating toursists. Yurie Sakamoto has ambitiously created a farm field at the midst of a commercial arcade, and in Kenichi Utsumi,
we find literally a walking dictionary in the area. Their discussion will provide ways in which we can think of the current state of Kobe from the common people’s point of view.
